Shear connectors for concrete overlay
what is the difference between designing a rebar as shear dowel and using HCC k shear connector? How is the strength of HCC K connectors derived?can someone shaee the catalogue for HCC K connectors?

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
Design rebar as shear dowel is using the rebar theory whereas shear connector HCC is designed according to TR066 which is more like “anchor” theory that will take concrete cone, steel failure etc. into consideration. Shear connector HCC is yet to be available in all the region, you can find the product data here.

Thanks Karan for the prompt response. I would also like to know the anchor rod HCC V type application..I see that HCC V anchor rod could also be used for overlays..can we use the rebar concept for anchorage provision for the anchor rod type?thanks in advance..
