Calculation of Design Concrete Edge Resistance

Hi I am calculating for HILTI HIT-RE 500 V3 mortar with HIT-V rod (Gr8.8). I would like to check how the base value for design concrete edge resistance was calculated. According to the shear loading recommendations, V0Rd,c = 36.6kN for M24 bolts. Is the value calculated based off min'c edge distance = 60mm?

Can we check that if there is unlimited concrete along its length, consideration for this shear loading for edge failure can be omitted.

Hi Nicholas,

V0Rk,c is calculated using Eq. 7.41 of EN1992-4 with influencing factors of concrete grade, edge distance, diameter of the fixing the embedment length.

Free edge can be considered if the edge distance is greater than the maximum of 10 times anchorage length or 60 times the fixing diameter as outlined in 7.2.2.5 of EN1992-4.
