HILTI EXPANDS CHILD DAY CARE CENTER

Schaan (FL), June 13, 2017 – Hilti Corporation, with the support of the Hilti Family Trust, is expanding its Child Day Care Center at company headquarters in Schaan. The ground-breaking ceremony took place today.

The continuing high demand for places in child day care has prompted Hilti to expand its Child Day Care Center which opened in September 2013. Construction of this extension will increase the center’s current capacity of 36 places, allowing it as of summer 2018 to offer a maximum of 60 to 70 day care places, as required. The construction project is being financed by the Hilti Family Trust, while ongoing running costs are subsidized by Hilti Corporation. “When women wish to reconcile family life and career, they need reliable child day care. We make it available. After giving birth, day care gives these mothers the flexibility they need to be able to step back into their career with as little delay as possible,” explained Michèle Hilti, Managing Director of the Hilti Foundation, on the occasion of the ground-breaking ceremony.

The service offered by the Child Day Care Center is also of particular relevance with regard to gender diversity, one of the focus areas in Hilti’s Diversity & Inclusion initiative. “We want to create the prerequisites that allow all employees to have the same opportunities. Child day care makes an important contribution to the attractiveness of Hilti as an employer and to a better balance between work and family life,” commented Sabine Krauss, Head of Global Human Resources.

Daniel Hilti, Chairman of the Schaan Parish Council, emphasized in his speech that “Hilti sets standards – even in child care”. He also pointed out that the Parish Council is very pleased to see that the company is showing such a high level of social commitment.

Hilmar Hoch, Member of the Board of the Liechtenstein Child Day Care Center Association, views the expansion of the Hilti Child Day Care Center as a clear and positive sign of recognition and confidence in the cooperation taking place. He also underlined the significance of this facility in other respects, “During debates held recently in Liechtenstein on the subject of new financing models it became apparent that there’s still a certain bias against child care outside the family. It’s thus all the more important that industrial companies such as Hilti show their commitment to child care concepts of this kind.”

A total of 65 children from 20 different nations are currently looked after in three groups in Hilti’s Child Day Care Center. The period of time they are under care is arranged on a flexible basis and varies from two half days to five full days per week. Each day care place not occupied for the full week can therefore be allocated to several children.
